The Light Gate Receiver is a precision accessory designed for use with the Time, Speed & Acceleration (TSA) Unit, enabling accurate measurement of time, speed, and motion in physics experiments. Working alongside the Light Gate Source, this component detects interruptions in an infrared beam to provide highly reliable timing data.
Equipped with a sensitive photodiode and daylight filter, the receiver ensures consistent performance even in brightly lit environments, such as classrooms with natural light. This makes it ideal for school laboratories where ambient light conditions can vary.
The system uses an infrared light source, allowing separation distances of up to 50cm between the source and receiver, with the potential for greater distances using appropriate equipment. This flexibility makes it suitable for a wide range of experimental setups in kinematics and motion studies.
