Light Gate Source for 80961 Time, Speed Acceleration Unit – MAS 5977

The Light Gate Source is an essential accessory for the Time, Speed & Acceleration (TSA) Unit, designed to work alongside the Light Gate Receiver to enable precise measurement of time, speed, and motion in physics experiments. This component emits an infrared beam which is detected by the receiver to record interruptions as objects pass through.

Upgraded from a traditional bulb design, the Light Gate Source now uses a reliable infrared emitter, providing improved performance and significantly longer battery life. This ensures consistent results and reduced maintenance, making it ideal for frequent classroom use.

The infrared system allows for flexible experimental setups, with separation distances of up to 50cm between the source and receiver. This makes it suitable for a wide range of kinematics investigations, from simple timing tasks to more advanced motion analysis.
