5011 – PTC Taste Tester Strips – Pkt of 100 strips
The ability to taste the chemical PTC is determined by a single gene in humans, with the ability to taste given by the dominant allele T and the inability to taste by the recessive allele t. Suppose two heterozygous tasters (Tt) have a large family.
5012 – Control Taste Tester Strips – Pkt of 100 strips
These strips are useful for research and classroom demonstration in determining more accurately who can/cannot taste PTC.
5013 – Sodium Benzoate Taste Tester Strip – Pkt of 100 strips
Like all acidic substances, sodium benzoate has a noticeably sharp and bitter flavor, with some salty undertones as well. This means it isn’t the best choice for all-purpose preservation, but it’s perfect for dishes that are already sour, bitter, or salty.
5014 – Thiourea Taste Tester Strips – pkt of 100 strips
The ability to taste PTC and Thiourea are genetically linked because they’re similar chemicals, however, this doesn’t mean you will have the same reaction to both. PTC and Thiourea are not identical, so some people may taste PTC but not Thiourea, or vice versa.
