A water bath is a piece of laboratory equipment consisting of a container filled with warm water. It is used to keep samples in water at a same temperature for an extended length of time. Most water baths include a digital or analogue interface that allows users to choose a desired temperature, while other water baths employ a current travelling through a reader to regulate the temperature. water baths are preferable heat sources for heating flammable substances because it do not have an open flame, which prevents ignition.
